Sweet Potato Mousse – A Heavenly Creamy Dessert

Who would have thought that sweet potatoes aren’t just for savory dishes but also make the perfect base for a creamy, chocolatey dessert? This sweet potato mousse is the proof! Combining sweet potatoes, cocoa powder, and dates creates a healthy and incredibly delicious alternative to traditional chocolate mousse.

Whether as the perfect finish to a meal, a sweet snack in between, or a light dessert for guests – this mousse will impress everyone. The best part? It’s easy to make, vegan, and completely free of refined sugar!

  1. Boil the diced sweet potatoes in a pot of water for about 15 minutes until soft. Drain and let them cool.
  2. Soak the dates in warm water for about 10 minutes to soften them. Drain well.
  3. Add the cooked sweet potatoes, dates, cocoa powder, plant-based milk and vanilla extract to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the consistency is too thick, add a bit more milk.
  4. Spoon the mousse into bowls or glasses and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  5. Garnish with chopped nuts, fresh berries, or chocolate and enjoy!

  • Variation: For an even richer chocolate flavor, stir in 1–2 tablespoons of melted vegan dark chocolate.
  • Meal-Prep: The mousse can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days – perfect for making ahead of time.
  • Adjust sweetness: Depending on the sweetness of the dates, you can add a drizzle of maple syrup or agave syrup if needed.
