Plum BBQ Sauce – Fruity, Smoky, and Perfect for Your Next BBQ Party

  1. Wash the plums, remove the pits, and dice them into small pieces.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent and fragrant.
  3. Add the diced plums to the saucepan and cook for about 5 minutes until they soften.
  4. Stir in the passata, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, soy sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, cinnamon, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the plums break down and the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce until smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of water to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed. Let it cool, then transfer it to a clean jar or container.
